2002 - St. John�s International Airport expansion and improvements completed

Economy

Province will continue to narrow the gap with national average GDP per capita
The unemployment rate will decline
Inflation and interest rates will remain low

Demography

Population has stabilized and will eventually increase, driven by stronger labour 
   market
Net out-migration trends will reverse, and net in-migration will begin
Aging factors, including low fertility rates and longer life expectancy, will result in 
   median age increasing to over 40 years

Technological Advances

Household computer ownership, internet access and e-commerce will become 
   increasingly common
Wireless communications will increasingly replace traditional wire based 
   communications
Biotechnology research will accelerate, enabling major advances in health and 
   adding to life expectancy
