Departmental Reorganization

The Department will be undertaking a major review to streamline its operation and improve service to clients. This initiative is in keeping with public recommendations to reduce the size of Government. While some administrative positions will be eliminated all front-line positions preserved. All program areas will be reviewed to maximize efficiencies.

 
  *  All District Offices will continue to operate
  
  *  Operating costs reduced by 20%
  
  *  Consolidation of Regions from 9 to 6
  
  * Collaboration with the Department of Health to develop an integrated computer    
    information system
  
  *  Allowance of more decision-making at the front line
  
  * Increased stability for front-line workers through change of employee status from 
    temporary to permanent
  
  *  Reduction to travel, supplies, purchased services
